Hey folks -

Here is some of the music we listened to last week. I wanted you all to hear music with religious themes in a number of different forms in the United States.

This is a song by my friend Sam Amidon, he plays folk music but in a very contemporary style:


We watched a video of Shape Note singers singing from the Sacred Harp songbook. Here is a bluegrass band singing another Sacred Harp song.



We played some gospel music in the beginning of class. Here is one of the most famous gospel singers, Sister Rosetta Tharp.
